The Global Exchange Office can apply to the Japanese Immigration Bureau for a Certificate of Eligibility on behalf of students who are not yet in Japan and who need a ‘College student’ visa. Students that would like the Global Exchange Office to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility on their behalf should contact their Faculty/Graduate School and supply the material listed below.

? ? ? ? ? ? ?Japanese Embassy or Consulate within those 3 months.

? ? ? ③??? The Immigration Bureau may ask for additional documents. If the Global Exchange Office contacts

? ? ? ? ? ? you, make sure to supply any necessary documents as soon as possible.

4.Extension of Visa

? ? ??You can download the application form of the extension of Visa?here. (Status: Student)

? ? ? For other status please visit the HP of Ministry of Justice.

3. Health and medical care

In case of illness or injury students can go to the Health and Medical Services Center at the university (Sugimoto campus).

Annual health checkup

All regular students are required to take an annual checkup in spring (mid April~mid May). With this checkup, we will issue a health certificate which is required when you apply for scholarships and dormitories. International students on an exchange program do not have to take the health checkup, but might be asked to obtain a health certificate from a doctor in their home country to apply for dormitory accommodation before coming to Japan.

4. Tutor system

This system is to help first-year students adjust to Japanese culture, college environment and daily life, as well as to provide language support. Upon request, tutors are assigned to undergraduate or graduate students during their first half year at OCU (where possible the period may be extended).

5. Japanese language course and Japanese situation course (for undergraduate students)

These are regular academic courses for undergraduate students and are awarded with credits.

6. Supplemental Japanese language class (Every Monday)

This is not a regular academic program, therefore students cannot earn credits. Educational materials for learning Japanese are available on loan.?

If you have any questions regarding this page please contact the Global Exchange Office.

7. Free Pass for cultural facilities

All degree students with a ‘college student’ residency status will receive a free pass for certain historical spots, art, museums and other cultural facilities in Osaka. The passes are handed out in May by the faculty/graduate school offices.
